I recorded this short video to explain how I conduct role practice calls so that others can do so as well.
Remember, the key is to make it fun. The key is to make it messy. It's learning. It's practice.
We had two role practice topics today on 6/22/21. The first was about conducting a post mortem with your AL and the second was how to talk about charging hourly for a special project. Check out these sessions below.
We discussed how to talk about our FP&A services without being in a "selling mode". We discussed that asking questions to understand how to meet the goals of the client isn't selling. We discussed the power of "planting the seed" without any pressure.
Note: this was discussed in the 2nd half of this video so fast forward to about halfway through.
Date: 5/4/21
Scenario: Marketing company / $1.5MM revenue / Client for 4 months / wants us to run some variance reports for him monthly and that's out of scope.
We talked about the 1-page plan that you can see here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/18ZyoOjAJrA0u8N-9Om85GuO3mTIaiVp36Ps6IsJx2b8/edit?usp=sharing
We also talked about the critical importance of asking: Is that right? Anything else?
