Sleeping Giant State Park--HIKE!

Tuesday, October 15, leaving library at 3:30 and arriving back at SHS at 6:15!

(from 2-3:30 we will hang out in library, watch hiking/climbing videos, eat pizza at $2 a slice, and do homework)

Weather will be PERFECT for hiking! 63 degrees, dry, and partly sunny.

What to bring/wear:

  • reusable water bottle if you have one. We will have plastic bottles if necessary.
  • camera/phone
  • snack: energy bar, fruit, trail mix...
  • We will have pizza and snacks ($2) and water ($1) for sale before the trip.
  • Small backpack (or share with a friend)

What to wear:

  • Avoid COTTON! When it gets sweaty, it will get wet as you come down the hike and be cold.
  • BE BOLD. START COLD! You will get warm on the hike, so wear fewer layers to start.
  • Shorts or pants that are not jeans. Athletic or yoga pants are great.
  • T-shirt or tank top that is not cotton (or at least only some cotton).
  • Layer for on top. It will be chillier while we are at summit doing photo ops and having snacks. You will cool down as we come down the mountain. Lightweight fleece, hoodie, flannel is a good choice.
  • Hiking boots if you have them but sneakers are fine.
