The art room is a positive learning environment that allows students to learn about and share their art ideas through the process of creating, responding, connecting, and presenting.   The Fine Arts curriculum is designed to support Stratford's educational initiative "Portrait of a Graduate".  It provides opportunities for our student artists to be Communicators, Collaborators, Life-Long Learners, Compassionate & Engaged Community Members, and Solution Driven Problem Solvers.

During the course of the school year,  students will have the opportunity to . . .

• Learn about art elements and principles of design

• Learn about other disciplines of learning such as math, literacy, science, and more

• Explore  art techniques & processes using a variety of media & tools

• Learn about art history and culture

• Look at and critique art

• Make connections to art and the world around them

• Work collaboratively with classmates

• Build on problem solving skills 

• Communicate their ideas verbally & visually

• Build self confidence and pride in their work 

• Promote positive character

• Engage in Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)
