'Girl' Books vs. 'Boy' Books (Gr. 3-5): The students will investigate various themes related to gendering books and the impact that could have on gender diverse or transgender children
Fairy Tales & Gender Roles (Gr. 2-3): Fairy Tales are a wonderful genre to explore how gender has been portrayed historically and in current times. Traditional fairy tales and fractured ones (modern day ones with a twist) allow primary students to think critically about how different genders are portrayed and compare these portrayals to their own families and communities. They will then rewrite their own gender empowered fractured fairy tale
Pink or Blue? A Brief History of Colour & Gender (Gr. K-2): Students learn about the history of gendered colours
Who Can Wear That? A Brief History of Gender and Clothing (Gr. K-2): Students will learn about how gender stereotypes and clothing have changedover time. Students will connect what they learn to today to help them realize that clothing doesn’t have a gender.
