Taking a Quiz
Quizzes contain 1 to 30 multiple-choice questions. The Reading Counts! program selects questions randomly from 30 possible questions so that no two quizzes are the same. Your teacher can change the number of questions included in a quiz but the typical number of questions for a quiz is 10.
Find the Quiz
You must search for the quiz you need to take before answering any questions.
1. From the quiz search page, click Title or Author to choose how to search for the quiz.
2. Depending on your search type, type the author name or book title in the Find a Reading Counts! Quiz field and click FIND IT!. Matching book titles and corresponding author names appear in the table.
Note: If you are unsure of the book title, type keywords for the book title and click FIND IT! This search returns every book that includes the text entered. For example, entering “day,” returns any book title with the word “day” as part of the title.
3. Scroll through the list of book titles to find your quiz. Books are listed alphabetically by title.
1. After you find the quiz, click the quiz title or the corresponding GO! next to the quiz title. A prompt appears asking you if you want to take the quiz for the selected title.
2. Click OK to take the quiz or Cancel to close the prompt and return to the search page.
When you complete a quiz, a message page appears showing your results. The default passing score is 70 percent, but your teacher can adjust the passing score.
If you pass, a congratulatory dialog appears showing the number of questions you answered correctly.
1. Click NEXT. The READ-O-METER page appears allowing you to rate the book.
2. Click a number, 1-5, to indicate how much you liked the book.
