Welcome to Fourth Grade at St. Pius X Elementary School! I love this school for many reasons but what stands out most is the commitment to academic excellence and strong sense of community between our Church and school. While your children are with me each day, they will be cared for, supported, and encouraged to grow both academically and spiritually.
Communication
Email is the best way to reach me. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I would be glad to help!As fourth graders, students are stepping into their role as upperclassmen of the school, which comes with increased expectations for independence, time management, and accountability.
Please be on time. The instructional day begins at 7:45am and students not in class by 8:00am will be counted absent. As per school policy, the office will take any excuses for tardies/absences and adjust records accordingly. I just check students Present/Absent at 8:00am.
Homework and assignments should be completed and submitted by the assigned due date. All homework is designed to prepare students for the test day. Weekly testing will take place on Thursdays and Fridays. If there's ever a time when homework will not be assigned I will email in advance notifying you. (Ex. during testing week in the Spring)
I want my students to have fun while learning and to develop a love for exploring through inquiry-based experiences. One way you can support this at home is by checking in with your child each day. Ask about the highest and lowest parts of their day, ask about the math lesson, language arts reading, or science and social studies activities. These targeted questions help your child recall what they’ve learned, reflect on their experiences, and deepen their understanding.
Consistent communication between parent and child is one of the most powerful ways to support daily success and overall growth throughout the school year.
My hope is that our 4th grade students not only excel academically, but also feel safe, happy, and excited to learn, creating memories they will carry with them for years to come!
