September 22, 2023

We hope you enjoy your weekend and look forward to seeing you on Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 27th. We will meet in the library at 6:30pm for the first session and again at 7:00pm for the second session. You will be meeting with all the fourth grade teachers during those sessions.

Today your child went home with their Friday folder and will continue to do so every Friday.  Please review all graded work, sign the form that is taped in their folder, and have your child return it on Monday. Any grade that is 80% or below needs to be signed and returned to school.

Here’s what we have planned for next week:

Reading/Language Arts:    You will find your child’s spelling words in their planner each Thursday.  We will have our spelling test the following Thursday.  Please check your child’s planner for their first set of spelling words (they will be found on the week of 9/25).  Students should study their words throughout the week.  I have given each student a list of options to help them study in different ways.  I would suggest using a composition notebook or spiral notebook to have them do their spelling homework each evening.

This week I hope to have all children finish their reading diagnostic on I Ready.  We will be reading “The Mystery of the Missing Plant” this week, and will wrap up lesson one.  We will have a vocabulary quiz again this week based on our story.

Math:  If your child came home with their math test, please review the examples that are circled. Have your child correct the error and return it to school for a higher score. Students that scored 100% did not receive her test and will do so next week. Overall, I’m very pleased with how the students performed on their first test.

On Monday, we wil begin the  first lesson in Module 2. The students will use their knowledge of place value to add whole numbers and assess reasonableness using mental math and estimates. On Friday, the students will begin their math diagnostic on IReady.

Homework will be Lesson 5.5 on Monday, Lesson 5.6 on Tuesday and the study guide on Wednesday. As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns or questions.

We did it!!! The final week of school

September 8, 2022

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 4-2! It has been so nice meeting some of you and seeing some familiar faces. We had a wonderful first couple of days of school.  The students are adjusting well to being back in the classroom.

As you may already know, I will be teaching Reading and Language Arts to both sections of Fourth grade. Mrs. Turoski will be teaching Math to both classes. We each teach our own section Social Studies, Science, and Religion. The students will not be switching classes. We thought it best that the teachers switch rooms instead.

Next week, the students will be working out of packets in Social Studies and Reading and Language Arts. We will begin working on Chapter 1 in Math.

Every Friday your child will take home their work folder.  This contains your child’s weekly work and tests.  Please take a few minutes and review these papers. Sign the enclosed sheet and date it so, I know you are aware of your child’s progress. The folder needs to be returned on Monday. Also on Monday, there will be new information on Myteacherpages website under Classroom NewsIt will state what our class is working on and when tests are scheduled. You can access this website through the St. Pius X site and click under my name and 4-2.

We will be having snack because our lunch is at 11:50. Please make sure your child brings in a healthy nut free snack. I appreciate you helping me keep the children safe in the classroom. If you have any questions, please let know.

If there is a change in how your child will be getting home, it is vital that you let the office know, as I will not always be able to check my emails throughout the day. This will be very helpful to me, as I learn where each child goes at the end of the day.

Communication between us is invaluable. Please feel free to contact me in your child’s planner, email me, or call me at school (518) 465-4539. My email address is cmilano@stpius-x.com.  I have decided to use the Remind App. Please don’t forget to sign up to receive last minute messages. I enjoy working with your child and look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Milano
