THE LESSON
- AMEENA NOUSEEN
I have learnt from the sparkling stars
To shine bright and glitter
Even when isolated and tucked in the dark…
I have learnt from the massive skies
To bare all the grieves and glee,
The bizarre of thunder and joy of rain.
I have learnt from the endless seas,
To live with contentedness and pride
Though humble enough to bow down on the land.
I have learnt from the daring lover’s eyes
To have craze for my passion
And hope eternally for what desire.
I have learnt from the solitary Earth
Who never takes the credit of her doings
Though supporting the whole existence.
I have learnt from the towering trees
To touch the skies,
Rather than losing hope in the dark
I have learnt from the colored rainbows
To decorate the smiles,
Not every time, but on a special occasion
I have learnt from the slaves smile
To experience pain and realize
The value of life over the value of living
I have learnt from the firm rocks
Sacrifice my segments
For the ones who need, but not known to me.
And finally, I have learnt from the people
That’s it’s no wonder to be a human
But hard to have humanity in us.
