Hour of Code
We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. That training and understanding can begin even in a child’s elementary and middle school years. While most parents would agree that computer science education is important, many are not sure how to provide appropriate, enriching opportunities for their children.
That’s why Saint Paul’s is planning to join in on the largest learning event in history by sponsoring our very own Hour of Code event! The Hour of Code has impacted more than 100 million students worldwide since the program began in 2013. Our event will be making a statement that Saint Paul’s Lutheran School is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills as we prepare our students to serve Jesus in their school, church, community, and world.
St. Paul’s Hour of Code will bring programming activities to young people and their families in a fun, exciting way on Tuesday, December 10. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and our Hour of Code will begin at 6:15. At 7:15 we will finish coding, have door prize drawings and celebrations as we wrap up the evening.
Plan now to attend with your child. We have a limited number of Chromebooks and iPads available, or you can bring your own tablet, laptop, or smartphone. Don’t worry if you have no experience with coding. There will be activities for beginners as well as experienced coders.
