Welcome! I am Mrs. Wendy Lomano, and I am excited to teach 4th grade this year!
I have been involved in education and teaching since 2002. I hold a bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching Middle Childhood Language Arts and Social Studies (Grades 4-9) from Otterbein University, and I am endorsed to teach 4th-6th-grade math and science. I have had 4 years of religious education training through Franciscan University.
From 2021-2025, I taught 6th Grade Theology, English Language Arts, and Social Studies here at SPS. Before joining SPS in 2021, I taught 6th-grade ELA and Social Studies, 4th-grade ELA and Social Studies, and 4th-grade self-contained (all subjects) in Columbus. Before that, I was a substitute teacher for 16 years at SPS and various Christian and public schools.
My husband, Rocky, and I live in Westerville. We have been active members of St. Paul Church since 1998, when we both were baptized after going through RCIA. Rocky is a partially retired civil engineer and land surveyor, is involved in the Westerville Knights of Columbus Council, and volunteers with the USO. You might know him as an usher at 8 a.m. Sunday Mass. We have two sons who attended St. Paul School; our oldest is a Navy veteran, and his brother is a Marine veteran. Because of our sons' military service, I am a member of the Buckeye Chapter 9 Blue Star Moms.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, gardening, and reading; in fact, I spend so much time on those activities that I rarely watch television or movies (we do not have cable).
The best presents I could ask for from my students and their families are hand-written notes, cards, or homemade pictures. I also would appreciate gently used books for our classroom library (3rd-6th grade reading levels, fiction or non-fiction; please no graphic novels).
Families and Parents
My motto is, "Learn something new every day," and I aim to create lifelong learners. Fourth grade is a year of maturation for students: Throughout this year, students continue to improve their reading skills, but are also increasingly responsible for their learning, behavior, and education.
I am in full accord with the Catholic Church that parents and families are a child's first educators; you are my partners in your child's learning this year.
During the school year, several resources are available to help you stay up-to-date regarding assignments, homework, and due dates. These resources include your child's planner, which will be filled in each day during class, and my weekly newsletter, which will be posted here on my website. I will send a weekly reminder and link about the newsletter; please add my email to your contacts so correspondence does not go into your spam folder. FACTS information system (interims and quarterly progress reports) will also be used this year; if you are new to St. Paul, more information will be forthcoming from St. Paul School regarding FACTS.
Lastly, you can also keep informed about what is going on at school by reading the weekly RAM Report the school emails parents on Tuesdays.
I encourage you to make use of these information resources to ensure your child is staying on top of his or her academic responsibilities, and so that you are aware of events here at school and at St. Paul parish.

2025-26 Parent/Student Handbook
Please ensure you and your student(s) have thoroughly read the updated 2025-26 Parent/Student Handbook.
There are many updates that you need to be aware.
All students are to have read and discussed with parents the handbook and what is required of them as students here at SPS.
