Welcome! I am Mrs. Wendy Lomano.
I have been involved in education and teaching since 2002. I hold a bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from Bowling Green State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching Middle Childhood Language Arts and Social Studies (Grades 4-9) from Otterbein University, and I am endorsed to teach 4th-6th-grade math and science. I am working to add a reading endorsement to my license. I have had 5 years of religious education training through Franciscan University.
From 2021-2025, I taught 6th Grade Theology, English Language Arts, and Social Studies here at SPS. Before joining SPS in 2021, I taught 6th-grade ELA and Social Studies, 4th-grade ELA and Social Studies, and 4th-grade self-contained (all subjects) in Columbus. Before that, I was a substitute teacher for 16 years at SPS and various Christian and public schools.
My husband, Rocky, and I live in Westerville. We have been active members of St. Paul Church since 1998, when we both were baptized after going through RCIA. Rocky is a partially retired civil engineer and land surveyor, is involved in the Westerville Knights of Columbus Council, and volunteers with the USO. You might know him as an usher at 8 a.m. Sunday Mass. We have two sons who attended St. Paul School; our oldest is a Navy veteran, and his brother is a Marine veteran. Because of our sons' military service, I am a member of the Buckeye Chapter 9 Blue Star Moms.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, gardening, and reading; in fact, I spend so much time on those activities that I rarely watch television or movies (we do not have cable).
The best presents I could ask for from my students and their families are hand-written notes, cards, or homemade pictures. I also appreciate gently used books for our classroom library (3rd-6th grade reading levels, fiction or non-fiction; please no graphic novels).
