Hello, my name is Tami Halker and I am so excited for this upcoming school year. I graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. I worked for over 25 years as a Pharmacist for Walgreens. I received my substitute teaching license and was subbing for a few years. I absolutely loved it. I decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I graduated in June of 2022 with my Masters in Elementary Education from Western Governors University.
I reside in Powell with my husband and 4 boys. My husband is a Pharmacist with Walgreens. My oldest boys are twins and they are in college. One is majoring in electrical engineering and the other one is a premed student. My other son is in high school and enjoys the marching band and Boy Scouts. My youngest son is in middle school and enjoys soccer, hockey, and Boy Scouts. We enjoy visiting the beach, hiking, and spending time together as a family.
I will be teaching fifth grade Religion, Math, and Science. I have been a Parish school religion teacher at Saint Joan of Arc for over 10 years. I am very excited to be teaching these classes. I have a passion for science and cannot wait to spark the curiosity of science in my students. We will be learning about our solar system, ecosystem, force, and motion. Fifth grade math is building off of the fourth grade concepts, but in more detail. We will be mathematicians and work on place value, comparing numbers, fractions, geometry, measurement, and volume.
I am blessed to be apart of the Saint Paul teaching community. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year. If you need to contact me my email is thalker@stpaulk-8.org.
