Laurie Locke

Reading Intervention Specialist

Hello, my name is Laurie Locke. I graduated from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education K-8, and Reading K-12. Later in my teaching career, I obtained my master's degree in The Art of Education from Marygrove College. I have been teaching at St. Paul School since 1980. During my first few years at St. Paul, I was an intervention specialist for grades K-8 and later became the school's reading specialist for grades K - 8. Currently, I work with students in grades K - 2 in a small group setting to help them improve specific reading skills such as letter-naming, initial sounds, phoneme segmentation, and comprehension strategies.

I live in Gahanna, Ohio with my rescued English bulldog, Bubbles. My daughter, Madison is a graduate of St. Paul. She currently lives in Whitehall, Ohio with her husband, Christopher and their dog, Alex. She is a psychometrician for Children's Hospital. I enjoy spending my time off reading, listening to music, singing, and snuggling with Bubbles.

I feel honored and privileged to be a part of St. Paul School. It has been my home away from home since 1980 and I cannot imagine myself being anywhere else. I am blessed to be able to work with such wonderful co-workers, staff, students, and parents every day.

To pick up a book and read with a child."
