Welcome to the Preschool 3's class at St. Paul!
About Ms. Johnson
My name is Cindy Johnson and I am the lead teacher for the preschool 3's class. I grew up as a member of St. Paul Parish and graduated from Westerville South High School. I went to college at the University of Dayton and graduated with a degree in elementary education. I spent many years teaching 3rd-5th grades in Beavercreek and Hilliard, Ohio, and Garland, Texas, before taking time off to raise my own three children. In 2016, when my youngest went to Kindergarten, I took a job teaching a three-year-old class at my kids' former preschool in Plano, Texas, and I was hooked! I have been teaching three-year-olds ever since. I started at St. Paul in 2021, following a move back to Westerville to be near my family.
I don't have a whole lot of free time, thanks to three kids involved in orchestra, theatre, soccer, basketball, robotics, etc. The free time I have is usually spent helping my kids with their LEGO YouTube channel ( J Family Brick Builds ), attending musicals (and singing along to the soundtracks in between), teaching my oldest to drive, and trying to make my jungle of a backyard look presentable.
About Preschool
The preschool day is built on the foundation of play. We carefully select toys and activities that help the kids develop skills in all areas of development. Some examples of areas on which we focus include:
Independence - being able to exist away from Mommy/Daddy, keeping up with their own belongings, managing the bathroom/hand washing independently, etc.
Life skills - putting on their own jacket, opening their own lunch, cleaning up after themselves, etc.
Fine motor skills - coloring, cutting, building, manipulating small objects, anything that will strengthen their hands enough to be ready to write, etc.
Social skills - taking turns, sharing toys, knowing how to handle someone who is bothering them, waiting for their turn to talk, learning how to be a good friend, etc.
Academic skills - letters, numbers, patterning, classifying, etc.
We will communicate largely through the Class Dojo app, so please be sure to get yourself signed up when that information comes out. If you ever have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. (Messaging on Class Dojo or emailing are the best ways to reach me.)
