About Me:
Hello! My name is Candice Brown, and I am a seventh and eighth grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Otterbein College in 1998 and a Master of Arts in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College in 2004. Originally from North Olmsted, a suburb on the west side of Cleveland, I attended St. Bernadette elementary school and Magnificat High School. My husband and I moved to Westerville in 2010. I started teaching fifth grade at St. Paul in August of 2010. Since that time, I have taught in seventh, eighth, and sixth at St. Paul. My previous teaching experiences have been in third, fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Cleveland. Prior to teaching at St. Paul, I also worked in Human Resources for three years at KeyBank in Cleveland. My husband and I have been married since 2007, and we have a wonderful son. We currently live in Delaware.
About My Classroom
Middle school math is the connection between elementary school and high school. My focus is to ensure that your child has a solid understanding of the middle school concepts which will serve as a foundation for advanced mathematics. We will go beyond the basics of “plug and chug” mathematics. They will grow in their conceptual understanding of integers, functions, equations, and geometry using multiple perspectives. Their goal for this year is to be thinkers, advocates, and problem solvers through creativity and perseverance.
