How to Make a Simple Sketchbook

I hope this email finds you healthy and well. I have been learning how to make art class videos and putting together student art portfolios for K3-6th grades. The videos took several "takes", I was super nervous, and I'm still learning how to make them. Please be patient and laugh along with me! I'm sure I will get better with practice.
If you get an error message ("couldn't preview file") when you try to watch a video, click the Download button, and open it from your Downloads to view.
I will be emailing my own homemade videos, links to other artist-made video tutorials, and handouts you can print out at home, like coloring pages and how-to drawing guides. Activities will be grouped by grade level (K5-2, 3rd-4th, and 5th-6th). These are art projects/lessons I would normally provide our students, if I could teach face-to-face. I am keeping the supplies simple and basic. There is no need to buy anything special, because they are items you probably already have at home. Crayons, markers, black Sharpie, plain white computer printer paper. If you have drawing paper, colored pencils, a tray of Crayola watercolors, or any other kind of washable paint, consider it a bonus (but not necessary)!
The first video your child should watch is the one titled "Intro to Simple Sketchbooks". It's my greeting and explanation of the first art activity I planned for them. I'm sure the students will tell you that I forgot to say prayer and the "Word of the Day" after I said our "Catch Phrase/Mantra". I apologize; so students, say your favorite prayer before you start creating. The Word of the Day is SKETCHBOOKS. Whoop, Whoop! They will know what that means, ask them!
Next, gather your supplies for making a Simple Sketchbook.
stapler
5 sheets of white computer paper (white construction paper or drawing paper will work, if you have it)
crayons or markers
Then, watch the video titled "Simple Sketchbook" and have fun decorating the front cover of your new sketchbook. Parents, you can make your very own sketchbook too! We will use this sketchbook for all the art activities I will be sending, so I recommend that students make another sketchbook for their own personal free drawings. I would love to see what the children are making, so send me a picture or video. I hope the art activities help relieve some stress and bring you joy. May your spirits be lifted by watching your children create and creating along with them. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
Remember, you are an artist!
