Our organization aims to support Save the Children's numerous global and domestic causes. We operate under the Save the Children Action Network (SCAN) branch, which aims to involve volunteers and community members in non-partisan advocacy for legislation and aid that seeks to protect children worldwide. Our club aims to bring the mission of SCAN to Stony Brook University by hosting meetings to bring to light matters like child hunger, inaccessible education, and insufficient healthcare, which affect children inside and outside our nation’s borders. We will also host fundraising and activism events to rally the student body to aid children needing food, healthcare, and early educational opportunities. Members of our organization will work to engage the community by reaching out to lawmakers and encouraging voter support for policies such as early childhood education programs and food stamps. Save the Children at Stony Brook University wishes to provide the student body with a nuanced understanding of the circumstances of children worldwide. We strive to inspire all students to act as advocates for the most vulnerable members of our society and to carry the lessons they learn past graduation into their future careers.
