About SCAN @ SBU
SCAN at SBU aims to encourage voter participation in often overlooked local-level electins, with the goal of advocating for policies and candidates that seek to tackle issues of child poverty. We wish to emulate the success of other SCAN clubs around the US, as the first university-level SCAN organization in New York State.
SCAN Successes
SCAN representatives were present at both the DNC and RNC leading up to the 2024 Presidential election.
SCAN clubs and organizations around the US worked to secure funding for Head Start, child nutrition programs, and more. $1.6B were secured in funds to support programs for kids in 2024.
