What are the track options?
- Focus on experiential and applied learning pieces.
- Highlight assignments for EXP+, DIV or SPK course where technology is used to complete that assignment
- Showcase services Stony Brook provides that students can use to share their talents
- Provide an innovative solution to an everyday problem
Where can I record my submission?
- You can record in iCREATE’s spaces, including One Button Studio, the newest video recording space. You can make an appointment for OBS on iCREATE’s website, or you can drop by the Greenhouse in Harriman Hall to record using the Green Screen, DSLR cameras, or video editing technology. Additionally, there will be tables at the SAC on Tuesday 4-5pm and Friday 12-1pm from March 24th to April 24th. You can stop by and record your pitch right there! There will also be a table set up at iCREATE’s InnovateIT!
What is the Innovation Track?
- This track offers students the opportunity to address an everyday problem and introduce an innovative solution for it. It will bring a collection of ideas and perspectives from students of different disciplines, spread innovation, and allow students to communicate their vision of going Far Beyond.
What Counts as an Idea for the Innovation Track?
- Any innovative solution to a current problem or issue that has not yet been solved. It can also be a suggestion for a better way to solve a problem, an example of a solution, or drawing attention to a problem that needs to be solved.
If I submit under the Innovation Track, what happens to my idea?
- Your ideas may pop up on social media. By submitting your idea, you are authorizing us to share the videos. Besides spreading creativity across campus, ideas will be consolidated into a pool of innovation exclusive to iCREATE members where people can view and be inspired by them. We will include your email address under the idea as well so if someone sees it and wants to elaborate on it in the future, they can reach out to the idea creator to collaborate!
Will people steal my idea?
- Since ideas will be kept in an accessible pool, others will be able to view your idea. However, your submissions should not include every last detail about your idea. Submissions can later be used as inspiration for other events (like WolfieTank or InnovateIT), so if you have a billion dollar idea you may want to keep it to yourself or patent it first! This track should not include the depth that other events that iCREATE hold. It’s main purpose is to spread innovation and ideas across campus and start conversations about positive changes that can be made.
