MEC101 Fall 2022 Robot Design Project website is live!
Your grade on the project will be determined by
1. Instructor’s evaluation of the project as a team (75%) and
2. Anonymous evaluation of your contribution to the project by your team-mates (25%).
Instructor-evaluation (75% weight)
The instructor’s evaluation of project will use following rubric:
Satisfaction of all the rules and design constraints; importance of proposed COVID-19 problem
Usefulness or novelty of the motion – does the motion arouse interest in its viewers? Is it satisfying? Does it do something useful?
Design and Construction of the machine – how well the machine is designed and constructed? Does it easily fall apart or is built robustly?
Cleverness and uniqueness of the design – is the mechanism and machine used to produce the motion a sophisticated one?
Documentation submitted
Extra credit: Judges’ discretion – robots that truly impress judges will score a few extra points.
Anonymous Peer-evaluation (25% weight)
Logistics of this will be posed later on, but following will be the rubric for the evaluation:
Attends group meetings regularly and arrives on time.
Contributes meaningfully to group discussions.
Completes group assignments on time.
Prepares work in a quality manner.
Demonstrates a cooperative and supportive attitude.
Contributes significantly to the success of the project.
