I am a proud member of the Stony Brook Greek and Cypriot Club. As the daughter of an immigrant from Cyprus, being a Cypriot-American woman is a significant part of my identity. I am also a first-generation American on my father’s side. Connecting with other Greek and Cypriot students has been a transformative experience, as it allows me to share and celebrate our heritage, traditions, and cultural values.
I am also proud to be a member of the Stony Brook Belly Dancing team. Dance has been a passion of mine since I was three years old, and it continues to be a meaningful part of my identity. My love for dance has introduced me to so many incredible people, and their energy and passion inspire me every day. Being part of this team has not only allowed me to continue doing what I love but also to connect with other amazing women.
I became a club member at Planet Fitness last summer, committing to take my health more seriously and prioritize taking care of my body. This decision has greatly improved my physical and mental well-being. It has also deepened my understanding of how self-care is crucial for emotional health, something I hope to incorporate into my work as a school social worker by supporting students in fostering healthy habits and prioritizing their well-being.
