The aim of this special session is to bring together current studies on endangered and low-resourced languages/dialects in Japan and Korea. We invite submissions of original work focusing on any aspect of relevant languages/dialects and their speakers, including but not limited to (i) documentation and revitalization efforts, (ii) methodological issues, including the use of AI and other technologies, (iii) data processing and archiving, (iv) resource development for communities, and (v) studies in any of the core or interdisciplinary subfields of linguistics, including sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, psycholinguistics, and anthropological linguistics. Studies that take community-centered approaches and/or address researchers’ roles in research on endangered and under-resourced languages/dialects are particularly encouraged.
