Course Description: The course incorporates learning activities that compare the healthcare systems of the United States and Tanzania, along with a focus on various hospital departments. This course aims to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of medical practices in different contexts and essential knowledge about specialized hospital departments. Through this course, students will explore the impact of culture, medicine, and public health in comprehending and addressing health challenges in various contexts through case studies. The course will offer a look at how administrative policies can impact health, health seeking, and healthcare delivery. Additionally, the course will provide opportunities for cultural exchange between students from SBU and Tanzania (KCMC) to enrich their understanding of global healthcare challenges and promote a collaborative learning environment. Grading scheme: S/U
Course Goal: To provide students with a context-rich study abroad experience in healthcare that will assist students in building their resume for applying to education programs in the health professions.
