We are looking for highly motivated Ph.D. Students and Postdoc Fellows who are interested in exploring optical, thermal and quantum materials, nanostructures and devices.
Current Openings: Ph.D. students
Our lab is mainly working on various types of nanomaterials and nano-devices, and would like to utilize their unique optical properties to realize applications in integrated photonic circuits, optical sensing, infrared detection, thermal energy, optical and quantum communication. It will be great if you are interested nanotechnology, applied physics, materials in general, and open to interdisciplinary research.
Highly motivated Ph.D. candidates with coursework or research background in applied physics, optical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or materials science are welcome to apply. Applicants should send their full curriculum vitae and transcripts via email to Prof. Jie Gao (jie.gao.5@stonybrook.edu).
Graduate | Department of Mechanical Engineering
Current Openings: Postdoc fellows
We are looking for postdoc fellows who have strong experimental experience with micro-Raman and PL spectroscopy, 2D materials, quantum optics, nanophotonics, and/or nonlinear optics. Our interdisciplinary research investigates light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, which will advance many exciting applications in optical energy harvesting, optical sensing and imaging, linear and nonlinear light emission processes, optical and quantum information processing. Applicants should send their full curriculum vitae and contact information for three references via email to Prof. Jie Gao (jie.gao.5@stonybrook.edu).
