Which award type is of the most interest to you? Remember that you can only apply for one award type to one specific country.
Focus on countries with awards for specific universities and then review the individual country pages for full descriptions of those most interesting to you.
You must submit three recommendation letters as part of the application. Recommenders should speak to your ability to carry out the project being proposed; they should discuss your intellectual and professional preparation, and your ability to represent the U.S. abroad.
Language requirements vary by country, so before starting the application you should review the specific language proficiency requirements of your selected award. If language proficiency is not required for the award and you have little or no knowledge of the language relevant to the host country but plan to acquire proficiency prior to the start of the grant, you may discuss your plans in the Language Self-Evaluation. In this case, you need not obtain a Foreign Language Evaluation.
For Study/Research Applicants, affiliation with an educational institution or other sponsoring entity in the host country is required. Carefully review the affiliation information provided in the award summary for your host country.
Reveal the person behind the experiences and academic accomplishments that make you a representative "ambassador" for the program and your host country.
Explain how you will adapt to working and living in a new environment in the host country. Consider the ways in which you have grown throughout your life that make you the individual you are today. How have you demonstrated these qualities in your academic, professional, or personal life?
The host community engagement is your opportunity to present a detailed plan. In your SGP, you should mention the plan and make sure you note how it fits and enhances your overall goals, but having more details in the short answer is expected.
Describe your career and/or educational plans after completing a Fulbright grant. How will your Fulbright experience help you reach your future goals? How will you share your Fulbright experience with your community upon returning from the grant?
All candidates should obtain at least a basic level of language skill to demonstrate their commitment to community engagement in host countries and outline their language learning plans in the Fulbright Language Self-Evaluation page of the application.
Bring together your background, interests, teaching and research philosophies, as well as your anticipated outcomes in a coherent, well-written statement.
Upload your application through the official Fulbright Application portal with all materials (essays, letters, portfolio pieces, FLEs).
