High Pressure Ultrasonic Lab

Dr. Baosheng Li's Ultrasonic Lab  (a.k.a. "Club Li") has pioneered many techniques that are currently in use at many labs and synchrotron beamlines for making state-of-the-art acoustic measurements in large volume multi-anvil apparatus using ultrasonic interferometry (see review paper Li and Liebermann, PEPI, 2014). In the High Pressure Laboratory at Stony Brook University,  sound velocity measurements are made in two multi-anvil presses at pressures up to 28 GPa. Currently, our research is focused on the measurements on Earth materials and critical minerals on both polycrystalline and single crystal samples.

More information regarding the ultrasonics measurements can be found in our publications
