Subhrajit (Subhra) Banerjee, Ph.D. 

Assistant Professor

Subhra grew up in India. He received his B.Sc. from Presidency College in Kolkata and his M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta. After that, he moved to the United States to earned his Ph.D. (with distinction) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from SUNY Upstate Medical University. He received his postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley, NIH/NIDDK, and UT Southwestern. In September 2026, Subhra joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University to begin his independent research laboratory. He is committed to mentoring trainees in an inclusive, collaborative, and curiosity-driven environment where they are encouraged to pursue bold scientific problems.
