About this workshop: What do our brainwaves look like in different situations? Have you thought about how health technology can be made accessible via 3D printing technology? How does the integration of art and the collaboration with other health care professionals such as occupational therapists benefit biomedical innovations and accessibility? Through creative hands-on activities, our participants will learn from various examples of Biomedical Engineering innovations that involve origami, 3D printing health technology, wet lab, Python programming and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
You will also get a chance to find out how a BME degree can lead to many interesting careers such as researchers, innovators, medical doctors, health care professionals, patent lawyers, entrepreneurs and more.
Hands-on activities:
Biosignals: Visualization and analyses of your brain, heart and muscle signals
3D design & printing: Using computer-aided design programs such as TinkerCAD and Fusion 360 to create objects that can be printed in 3D.
Molecular biology lab: Learn about the basic usage of wet lab tools and equipment such as micropipet, centrifuge and microplate reader. A chance to create an E-coli Art with bacterial transformation
Anatomy model building: Using clay of different colors to build musculoskeletal system models to learn about their distribution and function.
AI/Machine Learning: Learn basic Python programming and get a glimpse of how it opens up to many AI/Machine Learning opportunities
