In 2022, there was a huge flooding situation in Seoul. This case occurred the thought that our group had about the flooding. The first thing that came to our mind is that the number of flooding phenomena is increasing and the intensity of the flooding has increased. The graph is showing that more regions are experiencing more flooding. The shocking news is that Africa is also experiencing a number of flooding. Therefore, our group decided to do research about what causes flooding, what is the effect of flooding, and how should humans should decrease the number of flooding.

The abstract of our research is that global warming is the biggest reason for flooding. As time goes on, the temperature of the Earth is increasing. This is situation is increasing the number of flooding in the world. According to the article in the EPA, it states that "As warmer temperatures cause more water to evaporate from the land and oceans, changes in the size and frequency of heavy precipitation events may in turn affect the size and frequency of river flooding" (Slater, Villarini). In other words, when the temperature increases, then the water in the lake or ocean will evaporate and the amount of rain will be tremendous.

The goal of our research is that we want to decrease the number of flooding and the intensity of it. Therefore we have found several solutions for the damage from the flooding. For instance, sponge city which is like the name Sponge, it refers to a city with flexibility against environmental changes and natural disasters that can absorb and store water and reuse it when it rains. The other solution is solving the global warming problem. As the Earth's temperature increases, annual precipitation has increased. As a result, the government should enhance the law about protecting the environment or make a city as a Sponge City or else.
