• students learn how to string a hide onto a frame, scrap the flesh and how to utilize fatty bits from the bison's hump

• students learn to cut meat and prepare it to become smoked

• students experience a bison harvest

Smudge & Prayer Before Ice Fishing

• students gather with Elder Ollie for smudge and prayer, prior to stepping on the ice 

Traditional Feast - Winter

• after meeting with Stoney Elders, students learned about traditional winter feasts

• we gathered in the forest before winter break, to cook and share a meal together in our forest classroom

• all meat was referred to in the Stoney language

History of Traditional Îethka Teepees

• NES Wild students learned about the history of traditional  teepees and how they differ from other Nations, like Blackfoot, etc.

• Students then made their own replica teepee to take home and share with the families
