Homework

Often parents ask about our 5K homework philosophy.  Any work sent home as "homework" is designed to be fun and meaningful.  Your child will have a reading homework bag that is due on Monday and will return home with new activities on the same day. Inside the homework bag you will find detailed information on how to complete the work. This directly correlates with our reading lessons at school and is important for your child to work on at home. They are eager to show you what they are learning at school and extra practice in reading is how we become better readers!  We also have a few family activities that will be sent home throughout the school year.

There are a variety of experiences you can provide at home that will encourage your child to be a lifelong learner.

Here is a list of simple activities you are encouraged to do to help in learning:

*Read for 20 minutes per day!

*Practice counting and writing numbers to 100.

*Work on tying shoes.

*Write your name (first/last) with 1 capital and the rest lowercase letters

*Practice independent skills such as, zipping, buttoning, and snapping.

*Practice holding and cutting with scissors.
