What's It Cost?

Session Fees

  • Initial consultation - Free

  • Initial assessment - $175

  • Regular session - $125

In the initial consultation, we'll meet for about 15 minutes to determine if Stokewell is a good fit for you. Next, we'll conduct an initial assessment which takes approximately 90 minutes. Regular sessions for adults are 60 minutes. Regular sessions for adolescents and children are adjusted to meet their developmental level.

We are primarily a fee for service practice which means, you pay for counseling services and we work for YOU. No waiting for the insurance company's approval. No limitations by insurance on the delivery of your treatment. If appropriate, we will provide a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) which is an estimate of the overall cost of your treatment. We can also provide an invoice or superbill for you to submit and be reimbursed directly from your insurance company.

Insurance

Depending on your health insurance provider and plan, counseling services may be covered or reimbursed. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan reimburses for psychotherapy services.

A few questions to ask your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • Do I have out of network coverage? Are there specific providers I must use?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  • Do I need a written approval/referral from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Understand that using insurance for therapy has significant implications that may include but are not limited to:

-Increased access to your personal health information

-A diagnosis requirement which becomes a part of your permanent health record

-Limitations on coverage for services that are not medically necessary as determined by the insurance company

-Limitations on the length and frequency of service

-Limitations on the mode of service - Walk & Talk, Outdoor Play, and Teletherapy may not be covered
