Nathan Cox, a native of Surry County, is excited to start teaching band at Chestnut Grove Middle School in King, NC.
Mr. Cox first learn to play the trumpet at Pilot Mountain Middle School and is an alumni of East Surry High School. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from the Appalachian State University. Mr. Cox played in numerous ensembles while attending App State, including: Appalachian Wind Ensemble/Symphony Band, Jazz Band, Choir, Trumpet Ensemble, Trombone Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, and many more. For the last year he has taught at Central Middle School/Surry Central High School.
Mr. Cox is currently a member of NAfME, NCMEA, the Northwest NC Bandmasters Association. He currently lives in Pilot Mountain, NC. In his free time, he enjoys spending time listening and playing music, hiking, camping, and occasionally some video games. Mr. Cox has a true passion for teaching music to kids. He truly believes that every student is capable of making music with enough hard work and the right attitude. His hope is that his students have a heart for music and learn how to be productive and respectful members of society.
