Ladies Rides

These rides are around 12/13mph during the winter months increasing to an average of 14mph in the summer. The group often sub divides into two to cater for all abilities but still aims to meet up at the same coffee stop to continue the social side of the ride. Periodically we put on a series of beginners rides to encourage those wishing to make the jump into riding in a group - these are not for beginners but for women who are comfortable with 20 + miles.

The ladies section is also keen to organise an annual challenge. So far we have completed the C2C, the Way of the Roses, London to Paris, The Tour of Flanders and later this year are off to Greece for a weeks cycle training. Additionally we put on weekend events where we either drive to and ride from the event base or ride to and from our accommodation. Here we stay in hostels/hotels/caravans. We have done York, Romaldkirk, and Northumbria in this way. Other popular, more low key social events are our Saturday ride and afternoon tea, the occasional meal out and Christmas ride with meal after.

Please check Facebook for updates regarding the rides, and weather-based cancellations if there is any doubt on the morning of the ride.

WHAT TO BRING: Make sure you bring a drink, and on the longer rides with no cafe stops - a little food. It would be useful to bring a spare inner tube but our ride leaders will carry spares, pumps and repair kits. If your wheels are not of the quick-release type then an appropriate tool would be good to bring, but again our ride leaders will be carrying tools.

WHAT TO RIDE: For the Ladies Rides, we must specify that you ride a well-maintained road bike. Mountain bikes are generally unable to be ridden at the speeds the rides travel at.

WEATHER: The rides can take place in the early part of the year, so are subject to cancellation in the event of ice, snow, high winds and flooding. Check Facebook the day before the ride, and on the morning of the ride, if there are any doubts. No news means the ride is on.

WHERE TO DIRECT QUERIES: Feel free to contact us via Facebook messenger or email membership@stocktonwheelers.org.uk if you have any questions.

Some of our rides start at Crathorne. Here is a map of where that meeting place is.

We would love to see you there!
