Nevada officially became a state on October 31, 1864.
Brief History Before Nevada Became a State- In 1821, Nevada territory was claimed by Mexico after a war with Spain. In 1847, the Mexican War happened and ended in 1848. Also in 1848, Nevada had it first settlement, a Saint trading post near Genoa. In 1849, at Mormon Station, the first non-Indian settlement was made. In 1850, most of Nevada was in Utah Territory when it was organised. In 1859, in Virginia City, the Comstock Lode of gold and silver was discovered. In 1860, the Pyramid Lake Indian Battle happened. In 1860, the Pony Express happened until 1861. In 1861, Congress had created Nevada territory.

I liked learning about this state because I've went to Nevada before but I didn't know anything about it. The most interesting thing I learned was that Las Vegas has the most hotel room of any city in the US.
