Childhood and Education

Josephine was born on June 3, 1906 in St. Louis Missouri to her mom Carrie McDonald and her dad Eddie Carson, but Eddie left shortly after she was born.  Joesphine's mom remarried and had more kids. To help support her family in poverty she took up a job for wealthy families at just the age of eight. She was mistreated by the families.  When Josephine was 13 she ran away from home.  To make money she found a job as a waitress at a club where she met and married Willie Wells at just 13!!!  But their marriage lasted less than a year.

Josephine Baker didn't go to school until she was 10 because at the age of eight she had to take up a job from rich families to help support her family.  And at the age of 12 she dropped out of school.  

Acomplishments 

• She was the first African American to star in a motion picture 

• Josephine Baker became one of the most sought after peformers 

• She was able to help during world war ll by passing secrets she had heard from the enimies

Josephine Baker's Later Years:

Josephine baker, singer, dancer, world war spy, etc died on April 12, 1975 in her sleep due to suffering from cerebral hermorrhage.

Who loved singing, dancing, and entertaining people.

Who hated racism, loved dancing and singing.

Who feared not being able to entertain people, and not 

help send messages to soldiers.

Who was the first African American woman to star in a motion video, inspiring many people.

Who wanted to see people enjoy/ entertained bu her dancing and singing

Born in Missouri and lived in St. Louis
