Joyce Chen was born in Beijing on September 14, 1917 her home country was China and she

 was raised just outside of Shanghai.

Joyce Chen learned how to cook by watching the family chef cook, Joyce Chen moved during the Chinese communist revolution she moved from China to the US in 1949, When she came to the US she lived near Ohio State University so she began college there, Soon she became a famous in the US for advertising Chinese food to the American public.

In 1985 Joyce Chen was diagnosed with dementia and died 9 years later.
