Clara Barton's full name is "Clarissa Harlowe Barton". She was a Civil War nurse. Clara was born on December 25, 1821 in Massachusetts and died on April 12, 1912 at her house in Maryland. She died from Pneumonia.
Childhood and Education
From 1825-1836 Clara received an education from local schools and from her older siblings. As a child, her mom taught her how to keep stuff clean. She was the youngest of five siblings.
Accomplishments
Clara Barton nursed wounded Civil War soldiers. On May 21, 1881, she officially founded "American Red Cross." Thanks to American Red Cross we can save multiple Americans every year.
Her Later Years
Clara sadly died on April 12, 1912 in her home in Maryland. She died from Pneumonia. Her grave is in the North cemetery in Maryland.
