Section 2
Childhood
On June 3rd 1906, Josephine was born to Carrie McDonald and Eddie Carson. Sadly, Eddie soon after left Josephine and Carrie by themselves. Carrie eventually married Arthur Martin and had more children. Josephine got a job as a maid for rich families at 8 years old so she could help her family get some money. Sadly, she was treated unfairly and was judged by the families she worked for. Two years later, she returned to school but ran away from home at 13. Josephine found a job in a club where she became a waitress and met her husband, Willie Wells. Thankfully, it lasted less then a year. (She was 13 when she married...)
Education
Josephine dropped out of school at 8 years because she wanted to help her family get more money as a child. When she was 10 she went back to school but then ran away from home at 13.

Accomplishments
Josephine was the first African american woman to be a star in a motion picture.
She was a spy from the French Resistance.
Josephine was successful with her dancing career.
Section 4
Later Years
After Josephine retired in 1956, and took time to raise her children/"Rainbow Tribe." Then, 3 years later in 1959 she returned to the stage. In 1975 when she fell into a coma she was taken to Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital where she died of suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
