Childhood
Dolores Huerta on April 10, 1930 in Dawson, New Mexico. Her parents divorced when she was only 3 years old, and moved to Stockton, California. Dorlore´s grandfather took after Dorlores and her two brothers. Her mother had two jobs as a waitress and a cannery worker so, she could have a small hotel. Dolores mother inspired her to be a community activist.
Education
As a kid, she went to Stockton Elementary School. Dolores was a girl scout when she was 8 until she was 18. She went to ¨Stockton High School¨ and joined many clubs there. For college she went to ¨University of the Pacific.¨ Later, she continued to do her education at ¨San Joaquin Delta College¨ and obtained an provisional teaching credential. Dolores Huerta graduated college in 1948.
Accomplishments Dolores Huerta served at Stockton Community Service. She worked with the ¨Agricultural Workers Association¨ and pressed local government for barrio improvements. In 1955, CSO founder of Fred Ross introduced her to Cesar ´ Chaveź. Dolores and Cesar worked together and fought for unemployment and healthcare benefits for agricultural workers. In 1960, Dolores Huerta had boycotted the nation table grape boycotts and successfully signed a union contract in 1970. Through the 1970ś and 1980ś, she worked as a lobbyist to make workers legislative representation. Dolores Huerta recived Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award in 1998.
Her Later Years
Dolores Huerta continued to help people. In 2012, President Barack Obama gave Dolores the ¨Presidential Medal Of Freedom.¨
