Beverly Cleary was born in McMinnville, Oregon and lived on a farm in Yamhill, it was a town that was so small there was no library so her mom had to call the state library to send her books. After that Beverly Cleary was interested in books. She wanted to be a librarian so she acted like one in a lodge room upstairs over a bank. She loved it that one day she became a librarian.
Education
Beverly Cleary went to: Information school, Grant high school, University of California, Berkeley,University of Washington and Chaffey College. Beverly Cleary got a second degree in University of Washington in library science
Accomplishments
Beverly Cleary had a lot of accomplishments in her life. She won more than 35 awards. She won the 2003 National Medal of Art from the National Endowment of the Arts and the 1984 John Newbery Medal for “Dear Mr. Henshaw.” That was her main award.
Later years
Beverly Cleary impact the world by creating many books the kids loved. The kids loved the books that they loved reading that's how she became an impact to the world. She was a librarian and an author. In her later years she married Clarence Cleary. Clarence Cleary died in 2004 and then Beverly Cleary died on March 25, 2021 at the age of 104.
