Dolores's Parents got divorced when she was three years old , So her mother took Dolores and they moved to Stockton , California. Her Grandfather help take care of Dolores and her two brothers while their mother juggled jobs.

Dolores went to the Stockton Elementary School when she was young. She also attended Stockton High School and was a Majorette and was a dedicated member of the Girl Scouts up until she was 18. After she graduated High School she went to the University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College. In college ,she studied to get a professional teaching credential

Dolores founded the labor organization, Which would become the United Farm Workers of America (UFW). Dolores also led strikes, organized demonstrations, and also negotiated contracts on behalf of the UFW. She advocated safer working conditions for her to work without harmful pesticides. Dolores fought for the rights of women , immigrants, and people living in poverty. Dolores also founded the Dolores Huerta Foundation

At the age of 92 Huerta is still working hard continuing her work as an activist through the Dolores Huerta Foundation Dolores said "She hopes her legacy is one inspiring others to take action themselves."
