Nebraska officially became a state on: March 1, 1867
Nebraska's name before it became an official state: Nebraska was officially known as the Nebraska Territory after Kansas-Nebraska named it. This territory spreaded parts of modern-day Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, and Montana.
