STATE HISTORY
Florida officially became a state on March 3rd, 1845.
Before it became a state, Florida was called Florida Territory.
Florida's History: 14,000 years ago, Paleo-Indian inhabitants entered Florida, leaving behind artifacts. In 1513, Juan Ponce de Leon came to Florida, naming it La Florida. Florida then became part of the Spanish Empire, with St. Augustine being created as a Spanish settlement in 1516. During the 18th century, the French and British were competing for the control of Florida.

I liked learning about this state because: I visited this state recently and it was nice to know about everything in it.
The most interesting fact I learned was: Florida is the flattest state in the United States, with its highest point at Britton Hill, which is only 345 feet above sea level.
