Amelia Earhart
Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison Kansas and disappeared on July 4, 1937 near the Pacifc Ocean.
Amelia was an Aircraft pilot, Journalist,Travel writer and an author.

Childhood
When Amelia was younger her favorite things to do was climb trees, catch rats, and collect bugs. She was what you would call a tomboy. Amelia loved to play sports like baseball and football. As a kid she was never really associated with girls either then her sister.
Columbia University
Amelia Earhart went to Central high school from 1915-1916. Also in 1916 she moved to Hyde Park Academy High School .For college she attended Columbia University from 1919-1920 then transferred to Pen State Abington. When Amelia was at college she studied pre-medicine.
Sadly Amelia Earhart died at the age of 39 years old on July 2 1937. We recognize her as a brave and independent woman for all her major accomplishments. May she rest in peace.
Accomplishments and awards
In 1932 Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and the first person to fly across the Pacific Ocean in 1935. Her trip across the Pacific took about a day to accomplish. In 1922 Amelia set the women's altitude record for 14,000 feet high. In 1932 Amelia received the National Geographic Society's gold medal from president Herbert Hoover. Amelia received the medel because of her nonstop trip across the Atlantic Ocean solo.
Her Family
Amelia Earhart parents were Amelia Otis Earhart and Samuel Stanton Earhart and her siblings were Muriel Earhart Morrissey. Samuel Earhart Amelia's father's occupation was a lawyer and her mother worked as a liberal homemaker and heiress.
