This year begins my 18th year as an educator and I am excited to be your child’s Reading teacher for the 2020/2021 school year. Here is a little bit about me… I was born and raised in southern California. When my daughter and son were in elementary school, our family moved to Louisiana. There, I started my educational journey working in an elementary school cafeteria. My manager, at that time, encouraged me to go back to school and pursue my long-time dream of becoming a teacher. Taking her advice, I attended Louisiana State University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. Graduating as a History major, I was hired as a Language Arts teacher for my first year. Soon after, I became drawn to Special Education. In my desire to help my struggling readers, I returned to college and earned my master’s degree, in Reading and Curriculum, at Grand Canyon University. Later down the educational road (just last year!), my husband and I moved to El Dorado Springs from Phoenix, Arizona- incredibly happy to get away from the extreme desert heat! I was blessed to be hired here in Stockton as their 6^th grade Reading teacher and I have enjoyed working at SMS ever since!
