StarLab Portable Planetarium System

The Atlantic County AVA Media Center has StarLab Portable Planetarium Systems for circulation to member districts. The StarLab Planetarium is an inflatable dome system that can accommodate approximately 25 students and their teacher. It requires an area that is at least 17 feet in diameter with a ceiling height of 10.5 feet, and can be fully assembled in under an hour. The AVA will require that districts borrowing the system have at least 1 staff member who is trained in its set-up and use.

The StarLab is great for teaching astronomy, but there is variety of projection cylinders that are available to expand that usefulness into social studies, mythology, constellations,  earth science, plate tectonics and global weather.

In Spring 2020 the StarLab underwent an extensive refurbishment. The system was reconditioned, and the projector was upgraded to an LED lighting system making the StarLab easier to operate.
