STREAM Day
Our STREAM program at STM has a mission: Inquiry, Iteration, Innovation. Our earliest learners are naturally curious; they have inquiring minds. Our program aims to incubate that curiosity, that is to say, we want to develop it from within, keep it warm and allow it to grow. Our STREAM culture benefits PreK - 1st graders because we create conditions favorable for growth and development.
The world shapes children, but they also shape the world with their personalities, ideas, and actions. Our invitation to young learners to wonder, investigate, and explore creatively provides them the agency to develop new ways of thinking and solving the problems that are relevant to the world. Our collaborative learning environments allow learners to explore relationships through play and social experiences. The social context of inquiry-based learning inspires meaningful conversations, developing oral language, and communication skills. We recognize that children learn in different ways and encourage students to share their perspectives. When learning celebrates diversity, students gain a sense of wellbeing necessary to develop a growth mindset that will support them for years to come. The STREAM environment surrounds students with engaging materials, ideas, and questions that creates confident and involved learners. Early learners will thrive with our guidance to become deeply engaged in the process of learning.
RELIGION: We relate the butterfly’s life cycle to Jesus’ Resurrection. Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar’s life ended, but it reemerges with a wonderful new butterfly life. Jesus died on the Cross. His sad friends put his body into a tomb. A tomb is a place where people are buried when they are dead. Then God raised Jesus from the dead. He came back to life! Jesus came out of the tomb with a wonderful new life.
