Making informed choices

Dear parents & carers & students,

Thank you for taking the time to look at all the information on our Year 9 Options Portal. Once you have the time to go over the material available, then I am confident that this will help you to make an informed choice about your GCSE subjects.

On the Option Booklet tab you will find information about all the GCSE subjects that we have on offer at KS4 and in particular, the Core Curriculum, The English Baccalaureate, the option subjects and the vocational courses available. Please read this section carefully so that you have a clear understanding of the KS4 curriculum offer.

You will also find on Video Showcase tab short clips from every department outlining the curriculum content for that subject and the expectations that students need to meet in order to be successful at GCSE. In some of the departmental videos our Sixth Form students talk about their experiences of doing a particular subject when they were KS4 students. These videos show the varying demands of each subject, especially for any option subjects that you did not study at KS3.

You will shortly receive a link via Edulink to a Google Form that you will need to fill out with your option choices. Could you please fill this in by Wednesday 8th May.
