My name is Windelin Stone-Walker Rickard. I grew up as a military dependent (Marine Corps) and then became a military wife (Air Force). From Florida to New York, London to Germany, I have had several addresses. Travel, change, adjustment, and adventure are a way of life for me. However, after our move to Pittsburgh, I was told it was safe to "put down roots." We have lived here for 21 years now!
With our frequent moves, I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach every grade from Pre-K to Grade Eight and to work as an educational consultant for the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History. However, my true calling is as a Middle School Science teacher. Out of my 31 years of teaching 26 of them have been in Catholic Schools. Teaching is not a job, but my vocation.
Now that our nest is empty, Chris, my husband of 37 years, and I spend our free time hiking, kayaking, fly fishing, and racing cars on tracks around the country. I enjoy cooking for those I love, working in my garden, and reading historical fiction and police crime novels.
